Todd A. Marquardt

CEO and Managing Attorney

Todd built the Marquardt Law Firm as a sole proprietorship on November 30, 2009 and converted to a Professional Corporation in 2011.

Marquardt received his bachelor’s degree in government from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico earned his Juris Doctorate at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. It’s no surprise, then, that he has chosen to run his practice across these two states, splitting his time between offices in Texas and New Mexico.

Todd worked for the Social Justice Clinic at St. Mary University School of Law as a Student Attorney for one year. During that time, he represented clients in divorce, child custody, and won an appeal with Social Security. Following law school and the Texas Bar Exam, Todd worked in a law office focusing on guardianship, a litigation law firm, and helped build a sole practitioner build an estate planning firm to six attorneys with comparable support staff.

Todd is the sole owner and managing attorney of Marquardt Law Firm, P.C. He built the law firm to accommodate clients so that people who need legal services have an advocate who is approachable and accessible. In order to do provide the best service, Marquardt Law Firm, P.C. has hired smart and compassionate team members who walk with clients through their legal issues. Todd relentlessly pursues excellence to make sure clients know the law firm is going above and beyond for them.

Marquardt’s has developed a strong referral network throughout the legal industry. When potential clients come to him with legal issues outside the areas in which he focuses, he introduces those in need to an attorney Todd knows can handle their unique issue. Todd’s goal is to never close the door on a relationship, whether the final answer lies within his office or elsewhere.

A family man and small business owner himself, Marquardt’s mission is to help adult children care for their elderly parents and to advocate for business owners. Marquardt’s wife and he are the proud parents of two sons and a daughter. Todd’s mission is to serve God by leading his family, vocation, community and country with the gifts and talents God has given him. He enjoys golfing, watching baseball, and hunting. He is a member of the Rotary Club, active in his church, and involved with the San Antonio Coalition for Veterans.

Marquardt is a licensed member of the State Bar Associations of Texas, New Mexico, and San Antonio, as well as the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Inc. and the United States Bankruptcy Court of the Western District of Texas. He is an accredited attorney with the Office of Veterans Affairs and Marquardt Law Firm is an accredited business with the Better Business Bureau.

Daniel J. Palmer

Associate Attorney

Daniel J. Palmer, a San Antonio native, graduated from the Antonian College Preparatory High School and subsequently attended the University of Texas at Austin. There, he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Government/Political Science and a double minor in Business and Interdisciplinary Studies. Seeking to amplify his education, Daniel entered St. Mary’s University School of Law where he received his Juris Doctor. It was during this time that he had the privilege of spending a summer studying in Europe under the guidance of United States Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts at the Institute on World Legal Problems at the University of Innsbruck in Austria.

After receiving his law license and admittance into the Texas Bar, Daniel continued to pave his way through the legal world by becoming an Assistant District Attorney for the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office. His position as a first chair prosecutor allowed him to develop impressive skills by successfully trying numerous cases involving a wide range of criminal offenses. This position additionally gave Daniel the responsibility to run the office’s Criminal Protective Orders Unit where he conducted many Protective Order hearings in the presence of every elected Civil District Court Judge in Bexar County.

After leaving the District Attorney’s Office, Daniel opened his own successful law practice, The Law Office of Daniel J. Palmer. With offices in San Antonio and Corpus Christi, Daniel practiced all over the State of Texas, handling a wide variety of legal issues in both State and Federal Court. It was there that he fully realized how important it was for clients to have a strong, familial bond with their attorney. He has worked hard to establish that relationship with every client that he represents.

When Daniel is not seen around the office or in the courtroom, he spends his time playing a variety of different musical instruments, working on his vinyl record collection, reading, fishing and cheering on his Texas Longhorns and San Antonio Spurs. First and foremost, Daniel loves spending his spare time by his wife and son’s side. Family is an essential part of Daniel’s life and his passion for his loved ones translates to his approach in legal cases.

Alex W. Vollmer

Associate Attorney

Alex Vollmer is a lifelong resident, and active community member of San Antonio. His educational journey started as an alumnus of Christ Lutheran Pre-Kindergarten, located directly across the street from Alamo Heights High School, where he graduated in 1999. Alex completed his undergraduate degree in 2006 earning his Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. In 2007, deciding to pursue his love of language and analysis, Alex attended St. Mary’s University School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctor in 2010. In the course of his legal education, Alex competed in Moot Court competitions and became a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society. Alex also attended the Institute on World Legal Problems summer program at University of Innsbruck Austria, studying subjects such as Just War Theory, International Commerce, and History of U.S. Supreme Court Justices taught by United States Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.

Upon admittance to the Texas Bar, Alex began his legal career with a position at the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office as a criminal trial prosecutor. During this time, Alex conducted more than fifty jury trials, honing his courtroom skills and giving him the ability to think, act, and analyze efficiently before dozens of different judicial personalities and styles. Alex continued to make use of this experience when he left the District Attorney’s Office and opened his own successful law practice. Alex sought and was granted admittance to the Western District of Texas United States Court in 2012 and has represented clients in a multitude of city, state, and federal courts around the State of Texas.

Alex enjoys spending his time outside the office golfing, hunting, reading, and taking road trips with his wife. He is still an avid reader, and no amount of reading case law will prevent him from reading every evening. Alex and his family are active community members spending time working for and with charitable foundations and professional organizations.

Colonel Karen A. Pike

Attorney

U.S. Army, Retired, grew up as the daughter of a service member living all over the world. After many moves Karen’s father retired from the Air Force and the family moved closer her grandparents in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from LaVernia High School in neighboring Wilson County and later graduated from University of the Incarnate Word with an Accounting degree and then obtained her Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law.

After passing the bar exam in 1990, Karen joined the U.S. Army as a member of their legal department, the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. She spent the next 29 years practicing law for the Army until she retired from the Army in January 2021. Since retirement, Karen has been in representing clients on various veteran’s law matters in her solo practice, the Law Office of Karen A. Pike.

Outside the office, Karen and her husband stay busy raising her youngest son. Karen and her family enjoy spending time with friends and family and traveling the United States on an extended tour of our American History.

Ava L. Louviere

Of Counsel Attorney

Ava L. Louviere, grew up as the daughter of a servicemember but spent the longest time here in San Antonio. She graduated from Reagan High School and then Texas State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Bachelor of Arts in Communication. Knowing that law was always in her future she attended Charlotte School of Law in North Carolina. Throughout her time in North Carolina, she was a member of the Family Law Clinic and an extern for the Guardian Ad Litem’s office assisting in the representation of children of Mecklenburg County. She graduated with her Juris Doctorate in 2014. Shortly after, returned to Texas to take the Texas Bar exam and became licensed to practice law in 2015.

Since 2015, Ava has represented clients in family cases, appeals, adoptions, guardianship, and probate matters. Ava is passionate about helping her client’s get through sad, annoying, and stressful times. She believes it is important be a team and listen before jumping in and offering legal advice. Every person is different; therefore, every case is different, and Ava thrives to give each client the attention they need and deserve without judgment.

Outside the office, Ava stays busy raising her son who is a budding athlete. She is often on the go with various gear and water bottles. Together they enjoy spending time with friends and family, relaxing at the pool and exploring new eats and treat.

Sharyl Mays

Senior Paralegal

After nearly 20 years of working in probate, elder law, and estate settlement, Sharyl still enjoys working with the elderly and their families in periods of transition. She feels a great need to help people who are dealing family with special needs, aging family members, or with the loss of a loved one. With a deep compassion and understanding for these families, Sharyl continues her mission to provides service with dignity and grace while helping families through transitions. .

Sharyl is a native Texan, born and raised in San Antonio and Dallas-Fort Worth areas. Along with her husband and two daughters, Sharyl settled in the Schertz/Cibolo area to be close to family. Sharyl graduated from UTSA with a Bachelors in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations and later earned her Masters of Science in Management and Leadership. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, JEEPING, going to national and state parks, the beach, and anything DIY.

Tyrone Marquardt

Director of Operations

Tyrone joined Marquardt Law Firm, P.C. in December of 2014 and currently serves the firm as the Case Manager for Nursing Home Medicaid and VA Aid & Attendance. Tyrone was born and raised in the small town of Alamogordo, New Mexico. He attended Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas, where he majored in Business Management. Tyrone has a passion for helping people secure assets for their future, as well as plan for retirement. It is Tyrone’s belief that while helping preserve individual assets is very important, the most important asset you can protect and take care of is yourself! His compassionate attitude is depicted in the professionalism and respect he gives to our clients and their families. Tyrone’s previous work experience includes over 10 years as an Investment Advisor and Insurance Agent with fortune two hundred and fortune five hundred companies and upholds his dedication to assisting and guiding others through his work.

Tyrone played college level baseball while he attended Sul Ross State University and remains very active in the youth sports community with the hope of encouraging the next generation of athletes. He enjoys spending as much time with his family and friends as possible and also has a passion for hunting and all outdoor actives. Tyrone’s attention to detail and his ability to care for others is an outstanding fit as our Case Manager for Nursing Home Medicaid and VA Aid & Attendance.

Sarah Redfearn

Registrar and Executive Assistant to Todd Marquardt

Sarah joined Marquardt Law Firm, P.C. in August 2018. She began as our receptionist and quickly developed into an excellent registrar. She talks to new prospective clients about scheduling appointments with our attorneys.

Outside of work, she loves to read, listen to podcasts, and spend time with her husband and their dog and potbellied pig.

Juan Molina

Legal Assistant

Juan Molina graduated with a bachelor’s degree from UTSA. He has worked in several different departments at Marquardt Law Firm, including records, executive assistant to the CEO, and now, government benefits. Juan speaks Italian and Spanish as well as English.

Cassidy Sanchez

Legal Assistant

Cassidy is a Texas A&M graduate with a degree in University Studies with a concentration in Race, Gender, and Ethnicity and minors in Psychology and Sociology. She initiated employment in August 2021 as a receptionist but has since been promoted to legal assistant where she assists attorneys with cases, always putting the clients’ needs first. She provides guidance and insight to clients throughout their case, many times being the contact person committed to returning phone calls, emails, and letters on a timely basis. Having worked in other law firms, she brings experience such as being highly effective in maintaining office and client records, applying excellent organizational skills, and collaborating with coworkers, supervisors, and clients. Whilst she recognizes that each client’s needs are different and each face unique challenges, she strives to maintain an attitude of professionalism. Her role as a legal assistant focuses on working alongside the attorney from start to finish becoming familiar with each client’s needs as a legal solution is crafted.

Cassidy is currently pursuing her Paralegal Certificate to become an even greater asset to the legal industry.

Outside of the office, she enjoys spending her time with her beautiful baby boy and puppy. She also looks forward to cheering on the Texas Aggies during every football season!

William Oulvey

Records Custodian

William wants to develop a steady and reliable career with MLF and to become a reliable and trustworthy co-worker to get things done quickly and efficiently.

Top Three Accomplishments: Good attendance record, recreated a folder, scanned and uploaded a box of materials in five days with the help of co-workers.

William enjoys computer gaming, watching the news and funny videos on YouTube, bike riding, board games and reading. His favorite subject to learn about is history especially World War II.

Lauren Murillo

Receptionist

Lauren Murillo joined Marquardt Law Firm in September 2021 as the Records Assistant and has since then become the Receptionist as well as the office dogsitter. She is a current student at Texas A&M University San Antonio and is pursuing a degree in Dietetics in hopes to become a Registered Dietician.

In her free time, Lauren likes to relax and watch Ozark at home, go to the gym, and spend time with family and friends. Most importantly, Lauren loves dogs and dreams to have a home full of them one day.
